Warum ist REACH für Sie als Endkunde wichtig?
REACH steht für Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals. Dahinter verbirgt sich die EU-Verordnung mit der Nummer 1907/2006. Seit 2007 ist sie in der gesamten Europäischen Union gültig und regelt den Umgang bzw. das Herstellen und Importieren von Chemikalien.
Die Kernidee ist: "Keine Daten - kein Markt". Es dürfen in der EU demnach nur Stoffe in den Umlauf gebracht werden, die ausreichend dokumentiert sind. Dafür müssen Eigenschaften, Risiken und die sichere Handhabung des Stoffes klar geregelt sein.
Die Verordnung soll zum Schutz von Mensch und Umwelt dienen, alternative Testmethoden fördern, die EU-Chemieindustrie stärken und für mehr Transparenz in der Lieferkette sorgen.
Was passiert im REACH-Prozess?
Registrierung (Registration): Hersteller und Importeure müssen Stoffe bei der Europäischen Chemikalienagentur (ECHA) registrieren, wenn mehr als 1 Tonne pro Jahr in die EU eingeführt wird oder in der EU produziert wird.
Bewertung (Evaluation): ECHA und Mitgliedsstaaten prüfen die Registrierung auf Vollständigkeit und Korrektheit
Zulassung (Authorisation): Bestimmte besorgniserregende Stoffe dürfen nur nach spezieller Genehmigung verwendet werden (Substances of Very High Concern).
Beschränkung (Restriction): Stoffe mit Gefahrenpotential können gänzlich oder für bestimmte Anwendungen verboten werden.
