Strong performance for tough conditions

When aluminum hydroxide powder is heated so strongly that all moisture is driven off, activated aluminum oxide is produced, resulting in a very special drying agent. Pressed into granules, small spheres are formed that develop countless tiny pores on their surface, where water molecules can attach.

Its unique feature: Due to the heating process, they are extremely robust against high process temperatures and mechanical stresses. Nevertheless, they still maintain good adsorption performance and can absorb up to 25% of their own weight in water at moderate humidity.

Its robustness makes the drying agent ideal for use in compressed air dryers, in gas processing, or in PSA plants for oxygen processing.

Applications.

Removal of acidic gases

- industrial gas processing

Technical gases often contain traces of acidic compounds, such as HF, HCl, and SO₂. When they come into contact with moisture, they can react with glass and metals, leading to damage.

Activated aluminum oxide adsorbs these critical substances from the process stream.


Compressed air processing

- Warm and cold regenerating adsorption dryers

Adsorption dryers are used wherever normal refrigeration dryers are no longer sufficient – that is, when it needs to be really dry with dew points of up to −70 °C. 

Thanks to its high robustness, active aluminum oxide also withstands large pressure and temperature fluctuations in the process.
