What are desiccant sachets used for?

Desiccant packets are used to protect goods from moisture during long transport routes or extended storage periods. This applies, for example, to pharmaceutical products, electronic components, and metal parts. They can also be used in control and server cabinets to absorb condensation that forms during significant temperature fluctuations.

These are the desiccants you will find in your sachets.

GIEBEL sachets are made from these materials.

Effective moisture protection starts with the right material. Depending on your application conditions, we offer desiccant sachets in three distinct packaging options: Tyvek®, non-woven fabric and paper.

Each material is engineered to deliver reliable adsorption while meeting specific demands for tear resistance and dust control.

Tyvek®

Tyvek® made from spunbonded high-density polyethylene (HDPE) fibers. It combines the best properties of paper, film, and fabric while being tear-resistant, extremely durable, and dustproof, yet still breathable.

At the same time, Tyvek® is water-resistant and does not react with other substances. There are several variants, for different applications. All of them comply with RoHS requirements and EU packaging regulations.

Non-woven fabrics

Non-woven fabrics offer high breathability, flexibility, and excellent cost-efficiency. The soft material absorbs moisture quickly and protects your goods from scratches.

Perfect for textiles, leather goods, and mechanical engineering: non-woven fabric is more tear-resistant than paper and serves as a cost-effective alternative to Tyvek® for everyday industrial use.

Paper

Paper bags offer reliable protection while being maximally eco-friendly. The sustainable pulp material is biodegradable and recyclable at relativley low costs.

The best choice for consumer goods, footwear or dry foods: paper stands out for its excellent value for money and a green ecological footprint.

Choose the perfect Tyvek® for your application.

There are several types of Tyvek® sachets available. All of them offer tear-resistant and dust-proof properties, but differ in their suitability for certain applications.

Some sensitive industries such as food and pharmacy require very specific characteristics to comply with strict regulations. Others are not that demanding – especially when dealing with standard moisture control for regular consumer goods.
