White Activated Aluminum Oxide granules

Thermally stable

Absorbs moisture even at temperatures up to 150°C

Mechanically robust

Hard, shatterproof, low abrasion, low dust

High water adsorption

Up to 25% of its own weight at moderate relative humidity

Regenerable

Often more than 1,000 cycles without any loss of performance or capacity

HF, HCl, SO₂ adsorption

Adsorbs not only water but also acidic gases

Strong performance for tough conditions

When aluminum hydroxide powder is heated so strongly that all moisture is driven off, activated aluminum oxide is produced, resulting in a very special drying agent. Pressed into granules, small spheres are formed that develop countless tiny pores on their surface, where water molecules can attach.

Its unique feature: Due to the heating process, they are extremely robust against high process temperatures and mechanical stresses. Nevertheless, they still maintain good adsorption performance and can absorb up to 25% of their own weight in water at moderate humidity.

Its robustness makes the drying agent ideal for use in compressed air dryers, in gas processing, or in PSA plants for oxygen processing.

Applications.

Removal of acidic gases

- industrial gas processing

Technical gases often contain traces of acidic compounds, such as HF, HCl, and SO₂. When they come into contact with moisture, they can react with glass and metals, leading to damage.

Activated aluminum oxide adsorbs these critical substances from the process stream.

Desiccant dryers

- TSA and PSA systems

Desiccant dryers are used wherever standard refrigeration dryers are no longer sufficient—that is, when the air needs to be extremely dry, with dew points as low as −70 °C.

Thanks to its high durability, act. alumina can withstand even significant fluctuations in pressure and temperature during the process.

Ethylene removal

- Logistics and supply chain management

Ethylene is released during the ripening process of fruits. In sealed packaging, it accumulates quickly and accelerates the ripening of nearby goods. This can result in significant quality loss across a whole batch due to premature ripening.

Impregnated activated alumina helps to break down ethylene as soon as it is released and prevents a chain reaction from happening.

FAQ - your questions, answered.

Yes, activated alumina physically adsorbs molecules. Heating the granules to 200–220 °C for 2–4 hours reverses this process and regenerates the material.
